I agree it was stupid and wrong of the Rep. Etheridge to put his hands the student, for which he has apologized for, but why wouldn't the guy identify himself? This was very very poorly handled by Rep. Etheridge but at the same time the interviewer was being an ass too.

Reasonable response what with knuckleheads like James O'Keefe and the violent tea party crazies running around. Tell me Odds why is the kid blurred out in the video? And why was the video posted anonymously on the Utube? Sounds like an ambush to me. The kid got a little more than he bargained for.
Nice to agree with mc mark once in a while. I cannot believe the fuss that is being made out of this. Etheridge should have been more gallant either in deflecting the intrusion or back-smacking it but he just makes himself look like a dumbass. "Whooeryu?"
Reasonable response? The guy with the camera didn't touch the Congressman at all. Grabbing him wasn't "reasonable" in anyway.

thanks giddy and I agree the congressman should have been the better man. But he did apologize the next day... "I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved," Etheridge said. "Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse."
I am curious if the OP knows the definition of "assault" and can explain how that word is relevant in the thread title.
I think a congressman should resign when they act this way. But I also think this thread shows how conservative Oddson is or rather, how anti-liberal he is. That's fine, because we all know it works both ways. But I think these kinds of partisan attacks that come from both sides...they don't shift moderates either direction, they just piss them off.
