A few weeks ago my hard drive failed. Just got the thing back today, and have been spending the last 8 hours re-configuring it. At the moment, I'm trying to install windows updates. I have XP home edition. I managed to install about half the updates, but there are 13 critical updates--all of which are labeled as generic security updates--will not download. Or rather, they continually download without installing. It'll try to download one of these updates, say "verifying download," then without any type of fail message, it downloads it again. And again. And again. And again. If I leave them there, it just sits there downloading one update until it has about 2GB worth of a 300kb update, at which point I stop the freakin' thing. I can't find any way around this. Please help. EDIT: Forgot to add the update IDs... not that I think it'll help. are you currently using SP2? if not....download the entire SP2 update manually from microsoft.com's downlaods section....i If that is one of the updates you managed to install...try to uninstall it and see if that helps
