ok i know everyone around here is getting tired of computer problem threads, but this is seriously the strangest problem i have ever had. i am running everying to protect my comp... zone alarm, avg virus control, spy cop, ad aware, and i just updated all my windows security updates. i still have those same problems with my comp randomly rebooting. that is what happened this time. i am sitting here doing some work and my comp randomly reboots like usual when i am in internet explorer. except this time when its booting up it beeps at me a few times and says CMOS setting wrong hit f1 to configure or f2 to restore defaults. i am like wtf?? so i restore defaults and everything reboots fine, but this is some crazy stuff. has anyone ever had this happen to them? my computer is a lost cause i have done every sort of diagonostic possible and every update i know of yet still the same problems persist. Even though I'm wasted I'm going to offer some very rudimentary advice: Disconnect power Remove battery from motherboard Turn battery upside down for 30 seconds Turn back around Boot System Your system should start up without issues. I used to work in the desktop test lab in college...if that doesn't work, PM me. I have some good debugging techniques.

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini051904-03.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\ROBBIE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERCE.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml if this even helps it involved these files. it just did it again and the error reporting thing for windows came up and told me my computer recovered from a 'serious error'. they are very in depth aren't they? it said it involved those 2 files. anyhow...i'm getting ready to leave to get a screwdriver because i can't find mine to just try that battery idea. also the error reporting thing is screwed and it keeps popping up with the same thing over and over again.
I have a BIOS question. I got a blue screen saying IRQL is less than something, blah, blah, blah. It said to go into BIOS and disable options such as caching or shadowing. I looked in BIOS and I only found three things about those subjects. Here they are: CPU Internal Cache External Cache CPU L2 Cache ECC Checking All are enabled. Would it be safe to disable any of these options?
Ive seen that before...it can be several different things....next tim eit comes up...write down the exact message and then we will see what it is....dont bother jacking in the BIOS..I doubt it will fix anything.
Of course I have no idea, but I had these IRQ messages before, and I think it was some stupid hardware conflict. At least in XP, isn't there an option for the system to revert to an earlier state (last known functioning configuration or something). I think that helped me once.
Thanks R2K. It comes up all the time so that won't be a problem. I'm building a new computer and I just would like this one to work until I get the new one up and running. In fact, I asked some questions in this thread that weren't answered. Mind taking a look?
