Setting the rotation
Rockets coach Rick Adelman said he would play his starters against the New Jersey Nets today as if it were the regular season to help get them accustomed to the playing time as well as one another.

Yao Ming will be limited to about 18 minutes and will play in only one of next week's remaining preseason games, likely getting as much as his 24-minute max against either San Antonio or Dallas.

The rest of the Rockets' rotation against the Nets could be the same as it will be opening night against the Lakers on Oct. 26 .

"I'm going to try to get an idea of what type of rotation we can have," Adelman said. "I played Aaron (Brooks) 30-something (33) minutes (Wednesday). I'd like to play the starters that many minutes and work Brad (Miller) back in, let him play 15 to 20 minutes. I want the starters to get their minutes and sub the other guys in to get an idea how we're going to play.
"I want to see them play together. That second group, how will they play? Brad and Kyle (Lowry) will be part of that."

Lowry to play

Guard Kyle Lowry, who has missed the previous three preseason games with a bruised right knee, plans to play today against the New Jersey Nets after going through practices in Beijing and Guangzhou without too much difficulty.
"I'm all right," Lowry said. "I'm sore, but I'll play.

"I have to play a little bit to get my rhythm and my timing with my teammates. It's important to get out there."
