Woman wielding shoe brutally attacks 2 in Old East Dallas

DALLAS - A Dallas woman could be permanently disfigured and her friend was beaten unconscious Monday morning by a woman wielding a high-heeled shoe, police said.

The assault occurred about 2:15 a.m. in the parking garage of Vanessa Sarmientos' apartment complex in the 5200 block of Belmont Avenue.

Sarmientos, 26, and Jordan Pope had just arrived there after leaving a Dallas night club when another car drove up and two women got out, according to a police report.

Sarmientos and Pope, 21, recognized the women from an encounter at Club Wish, where one of them had punched Pope on Halloween night. A police report said the woman was jealous because Pope was speaking to an employee at the Knox Street club.

The driver began to curse at Sarmientos before striking her in the eye with the heel of her stiletto shoe, police said. Sarmientos ran to the other side of her car to her purse and began to dial 911.

The passenger of the vehicle, who was issued a citation in the assault at the nightclub, took a swing at Pope, who then attacked the woman, according to a police report.

While the two women grappled, the driver joined in and struck Pope in the head with the shoe. She fell to the ground, and the driver continued to beat her until she lost consciousness, police said.

The passenger then begged Sarmientos not to call police before she and the woman with the shoe got in their vehicle and fled, according to reports.

When police arrived, Sarmientos' left eye was swollen shut, black and bleeding. She and Pope were taken to Baylor University Medical Center. Sarmientos' condition is unknown. Pope was released this morning and is resting at home with staples in her head and extensive bruising, said her father, Bryan Pope.

Police are looking for the women from the other car. They did not name the woman cited in the nightclub attack and didn't have a detailed description of the driver.
