My CD Burner came with Adaptec's Easy CD Creator, which was working fine but has given me some problems lately. I'm thinking about using another program to burn CDs, and want to know which one is good to use.

Also, are most of them shareware or are there any good freeware ones to use?

I was trying to burn CD Text on an audio CD using Nero when I got a message..."Your burner does not support CD Text". I just read the manual and it says that the burner does support CD Text but only in Disc at Once mode. How do I know if I'm in Disc at Once mode?

It's a real shame I have this really nice headunit that scrolls this info but I can't burn it onto a CD.

If you're not going to use Roxio's EZ CD Creator, use Nero. Nero's probably better overall in terms of recognizing CD drives and burning VCD's, etc. Or so I hear... EZ CD Creator versions have been doing weird things to Windows installations in the recent past. It had major problems with Win2k and several are reporting problems in Win XP as well.

Speaking of which... I need to buy a copy of Nero... thanks for reminding me. :)

Smokey, when you are ready to burn your CD and selects the "Write CD" option from the File menu, it will pop up a window that contains multiple tabs for settings. Select the last tab (on the right side), below the middle of the page, you will see a checkbox for "Disc at Once". Check that box and you are on your way...

    Thanks MoonBus!

I was using the wizard so I never had that option. But now I see it.

It's an ugly, sad story. Short version it keeps telling me some .dll file is missing - repeatedly - then finally goes on its merry way burning what I needed without a problem. Just as long as I hit 'OK' about a dozen times per burn.

Also, my Windows CD player is suddenly gone.

Thanks for wishing me luck, though. So what about this Nero? Pretty good?
