In other words, do you hate almost every other team besides the Rockets? Or do you actually care about other teams as well? Do you say the following: Screw the Jazz Screw the Spurs Screw the Kings Screw the Lakers Screw anyone and everyone who beats the Rockets Sometimes screw even someone who doesnt beat the Rockets! or something along those lines Or do you say the following: Dang those Lakers sure are a good team. Those Spurs can win it this year. Poor Kings were robbed. Gee...I hope the Mavs play better defense so they can win Poor Karl and Stockton will have to retire without rings. or something along these lines I would belong to the former. I am getting tired of the Spurs, Lakers, Kings and Mavs lovefest that goes on here from time to time. To me its only the Rockets and nothing else! Screw everybody else.
I don't think it's either/or. For instance, I hate the Jazz and I don't like the Spurs. I pull for all teams playing the Jazz and all teams playing the Spurs except the Jazz and Lakers. There are degrees of hate and dislike that fluctuate based on who the opponent is and what the division standings are. Go Rockets!
Well of course. But as long as you descirbe it "degrees of hate and dislike" you belong to the hater group my friend. Spread the hate baby!
truth is, the only thing I like better than the Rockets is Basketball. When the Rockets get knocked out, the season isn't over for me, I must choose a new team to root for. So, during the regular season and until the Rockets are eliminated, nothing matters except what is best for the Rockets. For instance, if the Jazz have to beat the Kings for a more favorable seed for the Rockets, then I'm a Jazz fan for a game. Now, once the Rox are eliminated, it generally breaks down along lines of my favorite players and the underdog, like this: #1 Kings (I'm a closet, HUGE Webber fan) #2 Minnesota (dammit Garnett! when is it going to snap inside you) #3 Jason Kidd (who's he playing for now) #4-25 tie, I'll pick 'em when I have to #26 San Antonio...it's a Texas thing, and this team has always had more arrogance than they warrant, as if they are all as good as Duncan. I mean, the Rox never falsely strutted with Dream like this team does with Duncan. #27 Dallas...I have less than zero respect for yet another run-n-gun team with no defense...zzzzzzzzzzzzz, wake me when sportwriters realize they will never be better than previous incarnations of no defense teams. #28 Lakers...it is an underdog thing. #29 Utah Jazz the only team who I'd root for the Lakers to beat.
Except for the playoffs I don't root for other teams unless it's rocket related. I do like to watch other players though. Duncan, Pierce, and Dirk are my fav non-rockets to watch.
I'm with rimrocker and heypee, mostly. I'm such a homer I always think we have a chance at the title (our repeated comebacks in 95 are still fresh in my mind), but I like a lot of other teams too. Hate the Jazz (as much for Sloan as the players), hate the Blazers (gonna stay mad at Scottie til he retires), dislike the Spurs (Duncan's great but boring, Robinson's good guy act is past annoying and I'm still not over hating Bob Hill). After the Rockets, my favorite team's the Kings. I also like the Mavs and the Lakers. I'm an underdog guy too, but I just don't get the venom that the best teams always receive. I'll count the Sonics among teams I like as long as they've got Payton and the same goes for NJ and Kidd. And I'm torn on the Clippers. If they could keep this team together (which they can't), they'd be a really exciting team and a great rival for us. At the same time, I'm glad they're hurt and most likely won't be taking up a valuable playoff spot.
Everybody else can go to hell, especially the Sonics, Jazz, and Lakers. And now that Hakeem's retired, screw the Raptors too. All Grunwald's ever done is try to steal our players and jack with our roster's morale.
I root for the Sonics only when they don't threaten the Rockets, because I like going to games and cheering for the home team. I also root for the Blazers for that reason, since Portland is within driving distance. I hate the Jazz like I hate no other group of people. I hate them in every way imaginable. I only root for the Spurs if they are playing the Jazz. Otherwise, I hate them. Same thing for the Lakers. I only root for the Kings if they are playing the Lakers, Spurs, or Jazz in the playoffs, otherwise, they make me sick.
The only TEAM I hate is the Lakers. I'd root for anybody who plays them. The only TEAM I root for is the Rockets. I'd hate anybody who plays them. Other then that, I root for or hate players and coaches rather than teams. These are the top 5 guys I like to see losing: Scottie Pippen (How can he be a Rocket? ) Phil Jackson Pat Riley Shaq Kobe (Yes, the Lakers have 3 of the top 5. And Riley was with the Lakers! Now you know why I hate the Lakers.) I generally don't like high schoolers jumping to pro (my irrational old fashion self), so guys like Garnett aren't for me to root for.
I am a hater. I hate every team in the league, except for the Rockets. The Jazz, Kings, Lakers, Blazers, Sixers, and every other team in the league sucks!
raised in the la area there is no team I hate more than the lakers and after that its the jazz But for the most part I dont root for any team except the rockets, I do however root for players
Right on bro. You mention every team I absolutely despise. Accept those Asterisk Champs slash Tankers. Add them in next time.
I'm with HP. Obviously the Rockets are my favorite team, but they aren't above the game itself. There are other teams I cheer for when the Rockets aren't on, or are eliminated. 1. Anyone versus the Lakers. This would include the Jazz, Blazers, etc... I could care less if it was a team of Stockton, Malone, and Pippen, I still want them to beat LA. 2. Anyone with Tim Duncan (Spurs). 3. Milwaukee-- love the style of play, huge fan of Allen and Cassell. I can sometimes tolerate the Kings and Mavs, but can't ever become a "fan" of those two because I dislike Chris Webber, and think the Mavs are always overrated. (the Mavs will not beat the Spurs in anything until they learn the word defense) They, along with most of the rest of the league, are basically tolerable. I watch them when they're on, with interest in certain players, but not too much interest in the team. The only team that I absolutely despise is LA.
Im a fan of the NBA and basketball in general with my favorite team happening to be the Rockets. I only find myself truley hating other teams when the Rockets are playing for a title.
