Poker should not be on ESPN. Just like the spelling bee! I think I might be the only one in the world who does not like poker. My brother and friends play all the time. I've tried playing with them twice, but lose on purpose after an hour or so due to sheer boredom.
I love the spelling bee. That has to be the most intense competition ever - more intense than the NFL, NBA, or MLB!
I'm watching some of this now one of its soon to be 1000 reruns. It sucks. It's stylish, and has attractive people, but it lacks substance and there really isn't a need for a Poker TV series. Seriously, isn't Rounders enough, and besides, that movie wasn't like perfect...good, but not perfect. This show is too overdramatised and too stereotypical. As someone who spends days at a time in poker rooms in Vegas, I kind of find it offensive. I guess now I kind of understand what some NFL players were talking about when they said Playmakers was trash that didn't portray the NFL and they were glad it was canceled.
So basically every hand in the show involves one guy having a very good hand, and the other guy having a better hand. The guy with the better hand (after some ridiculous table talk) busts the other guy, and is proclaimed a good player, because he has "moves". The evil casino is a bit over the top, don't you think? Word would get out that they're a bunch of criminals and the place would be shut down. Another dumb aspect was the 12 year old girl, betting thousands of dollars and dropping various poker catch phrases. It just seems way too corny for me.
You didn't miss anything. WAY overhyped, terrible acting, "only in the movies" style plot... I should have masterbated instead.
Man did this show stink. I was kind of looking forward to it because I thought it might be decent. But the acting by the 3 main actors was terrible. Especially the protagonist. I don't think I've cringed more in the first five minutes of a program.
