    Asking $700 obo

Condition: the TV is in GREAT condition by any standard. In care of a HUGE home theatre enthusiast. No problems with the TV whatsoever. Picture, speakers, screen, etc. are all in great condition.

Reason for Selling: My stepdad is looking to sell his TV. He wants a projector and has no need for the big screen TV anymore.

Just testing waters here. He's looking for buyers elsewhere as well, mostly work and friends.

Here's a picture of the TV:

I can take more pictures if requested.

    Thanks for looking!

Correct, this is not HD. It's a standard big screen. However, this TV has great picture quality despite the lack of HD support. Games look great on it.

I should also mention that the TV is only used around 3-4 hours a day on average. My stepdad only watches his concert DVDs on it during the night. Everyone's upstairs watching their own thing during the day. Very occasionally does the TV turn on for games, such as during parties or the Super Bowl.

Like I said, the TV's been in care of a home theatre and tech enthusiast. If this TV wasn't any good, he would have upgraded a long time ago. It's amazing that this TV has kept him from buying an HDTV or projector sooner. That says a lot about its quality and performance.

It's in great condition and seems as if it were just taken out of the box. It's also from a smoke free house. And it's got a 61" screen. Larger than life, it's as if Luis Scola were in your living room during the game.

No offense but $700 seems a bit much when you can get a similar sized tv brand new with HD for around the same price or only a few hundred more.

None taken. It's my stepdad's asking price. I'm just the messenger.

But I think it's fair. It has great picture quality and it's a 61" Sony. Some people prefer a huge screen but don't want to pay $2,000+ for an HD. A few hundred more can get you a 42" HDTV. That's not the interested market. People who want a very large screen, not pay extra for HD packages, and/or not pay extra money to buy HD/BluRay players are the ones that are interested in this set.

He's asking $700 for a 61" screen. Besides, it's OBO (Or Best Offer).

Thanks for your input anyway, it's much appreciated from myself and those with similar concerns as your post.

Is your HD/gaming console set complete yet by the way? Hope the wallet's not taking too much of a hit haha

This statement is not true. You don't NEED an HDTV to watch TV. You just need cable or satellite.

You DON'T need an HDTV to watch regular cable/sat.
You DO need an HDTV to watch HD signal, for which you will pay extra.

If you watch regular cable/sat. with standard feed, then this TV is for you.

If you watch premium cable/sat. with HD feeds, then this TV is NOT for you.

Standard reception looks better on standard TVs than it does on HDTVs.

Thanks for asking questions, guys. Please feel free to ask more.

Again, the only thing that will become obsolete in 2009 is your antenna for analog signals. That does not affect standard cable/sat. packages without the extra HD options.

You can still watch cable and satellite on this TV.

You just need a TV with a digital tuner I believe and if you have one that is without this feature then the cable company will give you a box I believe. The only reason you need an HDTV is to take advantage of an HD signal or output.

I barely could sell a 53" Hitachi wide screen HDTV monitor for $500, man... I don't think you will sell this 4:3 Standard TV for that much, yo. Consider lowering the price... it will sell faster... maybe about 350 at most.. you will get rid of it sooner... a nice Garage-type TV...?

Good luck with your sale, citizen.
