Saw this on NBA program on ESPN 2 that are using this stat to say young guys can shoot. I was like whoa! Then I saw who the 4 are:

Tyson Chandler(does he have a jump shot??)

Dwight Howard(I know he dont have a J!)

    Andres Biedrins(He dont have a J!)

    Andrew Bynum(Does he have a J??)

Sad part is, Rick Beucher had a straight face when he said it, and the studio guys were like "wow, thats great!"

I started laughing and coughing when the names were announced. Flabergasted.

it's not about their "j" the reason they shoot better than 60% is because they are in the post all the time, all those hookshots and dunks.. etc.

Yep. But the thing is when you say Shoot better than 60% you imply actually shooting the ball. Dunking and post layups arent shooting. The argument that the young players cant shoot stems from the poor midrange shooting(16-20 feet). Using this to try and counter that is ludicrous and borderline irresponsible.

They definitely implied shooting ability. Mentioning how many complain about the "lost art of shooting" then countering with these high FG%s. Comical.

    not "shooting" exactly

Right, and if he had said field goal percentage or something instead of using the word shooting AND using it to imply a counter to the argument that today's kids CAN'T shoot I would not have batted an eyelash. Like I said, irresponsible.

OT disagrees and says you'd probably be coming in around 55%

Chandler doesn't have a jumpshot. At least not one that's any better than Howard's.

And those guys only shoot 2ft layups 25% of the time. The rest are dunks.

The reason why the four of them are shooting an extreme high percentage is because none of them have a jump shot and none of them pretend that they can make a jump shot.
