Thought this was an interesting read:

It is 8 pages, including several pictures, so I'm not going to bother quoting it.

I never really thought about some of the differences (barely even noticed some of them were a US vs Japan thing to be honest), but a lot of things start to make sense after reading that (save points, camera control, linear vs nonlinear, art style, difficulty levels, etc.).

you would think that someone would proofread an 8 page online article before putting it out for the public to read. But it was a good read nonetheless.

So the reason all of the Japanese game heroes are girly-men is that Japanese women are attracted to that type?

I guess so. Remember, this is one of the most popular people in Japan (Gackt, as mentioned in the article):

He's pretty talented when it comes to music...can't say I really like his sense of fashion though. However, apparently he is popular with the ladies (in Japan/Asia anyway).

Not really sure who else looks like him. I'm only familiar with Gackt due to his involvement in the Final Fantasy games. I think I've seen pics of other artists in Japan (and Korea IIRC) that look similar though.

Because we know how the taste is so different in the west.
