Will Sam Dalembert regain his January 2012 level of play?

    Sam Dalembert's per game average:

January: 26 mins, 9.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, 54% from the field, 1.6 TO
February: 20 mins, 4.2 pts, 5.5 rebs, 38% from the field, 1.4 TO.

Leaving numbers alone, Dalembert really looked out of sorts often this month and the team has often been better either with backups Hill and Patterson in his place or going small with Parsons at the 4.

What happened to the Sammy from January? Remember when we were all so happy about the Rockets being able to keep him for $6.7 million next year? Now it kind of looks like the team will have to think hard about using that $1.5 million buyout.

About time this degenerated into a REAL discussion.

Dalembert ONLY degenerated because he didn't have a mentor.

If we'd kept LIN, then YAO would have helped mentor Dalembert to become a consistently elite level center.

Morey losing LIN cost us a productive Dalembert.

    Discuss.

/CarlHerrera thread trolled in return for his consistent trolling of others.

Sure he will, for a couple of weeks anyhow. But he recent level of play is what we should get used to more often than not.

His per 36 numbers always end up around 12 reb and 11 points, which would mean he is having a down month, but overachieved in January.

He a serial underachiever, a decade in the league this is long established, that's why he doesn't have the fat contract guys with similar numbers have.l

McHale is supposed to be a good big man mentor. He could start by showing the bear how to catch the ball.

    It's just Sam being Sam.

He's been inconsistent this year, like every year.

He's inconsistent and really just an average C.(+/- a few games)
His age really doesn't play a factor here.

His entire career he's been a decently talented, but marginally professional. He just doesn't have the focus or drive to play to his abilities over the full course of the season. He needs a strong presence to keep him honest and not mail it in.

Strange, he's usually one of the more fiery guys on the court.

Inconsistent b/c of his old age? He's doin well tonight after bein benched the past 3 games and got some rest.
You can't use 'out of shape' as an excuse past 30. After 30.. you're just old!

He's averaged 8Pts, 8RB's, and 2Blocks his whole career. Thats what he's trending towards again this year. He has his good games, and he has ones where he just sorta takes up space. Its who he is and theres a reason why Philly tried so hard to trade him for years after they gave him that terrible contract years ago.

Thats why the Rockets keep on pursuing other big men. They know who Sammy is, and realize that he's not the answer long term. That being said, he's still worth the contract he signed.

There was a thread about Sammy when we first signed him regarding his inconsistent play for the Kings. He is what he is. I think he is still a great pick up and holds a lot of value to this team for the contract which he has.

He uses 20 minutes to warm up ingame, then plays like an animal.
