I'm sure the school and the community feels much safer now that the kid is arrested and suspended.

    zero tolerance working as intended

Well, it's true that psychopaths often start by killing animals. Not sure about extinct ones though.

The police didn't arrest him because of school policy.

I was on the kid's side until I saw the photo. He's got one of those faces that make you feel angry.

I can understand the school flipping out. Who knows, maybe dinosaur is code for someone else and this is a thinly veiled threat. Flipping out is probably not appropriate but a little due diligence is just to make sure. A little interview, maybe search his stuff. Why the police would arrest him is beyond me. That makes no sense. But, it'll probably be dropped later, so no great tragedy -- just dumb.

How do you think they went extinct in the first place?!?!?

Sounds ridiculous, but I do wonder how the story was written, and whether there was innuendo that actually was frightening in some way. He says there wasn't...but... we don't know that for sure. also, who knows how this kid goes around acting, or what he said in regard to questions initially.

The way the "report" is written, it's obvious they want to make the school's decision sound ridiculous, not that this means it wasn't. And yeah, that hair.

We have to learn you are not going to squash 100% of anything.
So super enforcement will not stop kids from plotting on other kids
It won't stop their plans from having various levels of success

Yes Be vigilent. but overraction is never a good thing

just watch the kid and let his parents know . . move on

Teachers good too much on their plate to be trying to play Jr. Psychologist finding the fricking psycopath.

It is the teacher's job to report any suspicious behavior to the authorities.

It was the police who decided to search the kid's locker, based on this tip, without proper surveillance and/or evidence.

Also the kid wasn't arrested for he wrote, which the article try to skew. "Is it against the law to write about killing dinosaurs?" The kid was arrested for disorderly conduct for being disruptive during the procedure.

Even though the kid with the bad haircut is obviously a troll, a disorderly conduct charge is bull****. I would have been sent to reform school if I was in high school today.
