is it possible to waive Hakeem, not trade him and take any salaries back for him and still have a shot a the Webber sweepstakes? to replace Hakeem, we could just sign Pig Miller to a contract for the remainder of the season so his contract won't effect the Webber sweepstakes. just wondering, and would like some insight from people who know. I have read on this BBS that if the Rockets waive Dream and he is picked up by another team then the Rockets still have to pay Dreams' current salary. Since neither Hakeem nor Les Alexander would discuss the details of their private meeting, I would not be at all surprised if they have a gentleman's agreement to waive Dream in the last month or so of the regular season so that he can be picked up by a contender. Dreams current Rockets contract (or any other Rocket expiring after the 2000-2001 season) has no bearing on bidding for Webber. The Rockets currently have $28,163,387 committed for 2001-2002. The Cap is expected to rise to around $42.7m giving the Rockets about $14.5m to spend on FA's.
