Morton's on McKinney? Kind of pricey, but worth it. It's a good walk from the Westin, but if you're going to be hanging out on Main anyway, it's right on the way.

I like that it reminds me of a restaurant you'd see in a mafia movie.

Reef is good too but more midtown-ish

It doesn't have to be in downtown. Midtown, heights, wherever.

Caracol and Peska in Galleria area are good but pricey. Latin seafood.

Slightly less fancy options but still good- Underbelly, Dolce Vita, Coltivare. (Heights/Montrose)

I've been wanting to try the new Oporto as well. Heard very good things.

Coltivare has struck the woman's interest. Thanks!

    You're welcome!

Just note that they've had extremely long waits at times and they don't take reservations.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. We'll be coming in early since I have the day off, so will hopefully get there close to opening.

It really starts to pick up at 6:30. handful of times i've gone around 6:30 -7 and there was minimal wait time. And if there is a wait it isn't back because they have great cocktails and the outdoor garden is nice, weather permitting.

If you are willing to venture out of downtown a little bit, Underbelly and Coltivare would be my picks

if you are willing to go uptown, then Caracol is the best restaurant in the city right now imo

We drive by Caracol all the time when we were carpooling. I work down the street, so I'll need to check that out soon.

It was pretty incredible. Every single thing I consumed at that place was completely delicious.

Keeping it within a 5-10 minute drive from your hotel, I'd say: Reef for seafood, Uchi & Underbelly for Asian-inspired tapas, Paulie's for Italian (quicker), and Hugo's for Mexican.

The Pass is absolutely amazing. One of the best meals I've ever had.

Love Uchi, Etoile and Marks as well.

The wife and I went to the pass last week. It was quite an experience to say the least. We did the 8 course with the pairings. It is quite pricey but probably worth it.

How often do they change their menu?

I'm looking for a downtown recommendation as well. Going to the late Garth show, staying at a hotel in Downtown Houston.
