ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Clippers 5/8/2015 (Playoffs Round 2, Game 3)

That was probably the best we've played in a 1st half so far, but we have to find a way to do something to slow them down on d in the 2nd half

 

Jason Terry is a huge liability defensively. At least he finally started to hit some 3s, but still, he got lit up by JJ.

 

Smith is a decent man defender but he is too stupid to know about rotations.

Brewer is overrated defensively he gambles way too much.

Ariza is okay but he looks tired.

Dwight is the only elite guy we have right now.

 

Feel like I'm watching the Portland series again. Rockets should be dominating this series easily with no CP3 but here we are.

If regular season Harden and playoff Dwight both showed up....man.

 

He can either go up stronger or pull up for a J when he does go to the rim. Going up soft and expecting a call isn't going to work tonight unless he goes D-Wade and just attacks the rim relentlessly and makes the refs blow their whistle every time down the court

 

I acknowledge the defensive abilities of Bev and DMo and their effects on the Rockets defense, but it's noticeable that others have slipped as well. Harden, Jones, Brewer, Brewer a second time, and Josh just aren't giving us enough on that end.

I keep thinking they'll snap out of it and put forth the intensity they need, but if it hasn't happened yet, it's not happening ever, I imagine. The Rockets have adopted the 2014 mindset of outscore everybody. That's a shame.

 

Not tonight! Guess they just don't feel like putting in the effort. Ariza looked pretty good stifling Paul though.

 

Just a thought but Joey ain't playing for sure....why not do a Hack a Jordan...he 's good for 6 fouls and we don't need him anyway.

 

I shouldn't have expected much more out of this discussion. We are playing well and have momentum going into the 3rd. We have played poorly in the second throughout the playoffs. I expect it to be a close game til the end. We weren't expected to blow them out.

 

still cant get over with the flagrant and that goaltending call. that's 4 free points, right there. all things aside, this game s/b a 3pt game just for these 2 bs calls alone.

 

harden zero rebound. maybe if he gets a few, he will get going.

 

For all the guys complaining about defense. You have to understand this is a fast paced game unlike the eastern conference match ups. Points are going to be scored. Yes we allowed 60 in a half but the clippers also allowed 50+. Neither is gonna playing defense in this series. The first to play defense will prevail.

 

I had a good feeling all day about this game. They are right there, they've weathered couple of storms and within striking distance. They just need to make some defensive half-time adjustments and continue to rebound, rebound, rebound on both ends of the floor. Making a couple of momentum 3s wouldn't hurt either.

 

brewer is almost near useless in half court situation... we actually lack depth on our bench. seriously, josh is all we got and even he is not playing that great.

 

lets have a breakout half James! We need you to lead us!

As bad as we played, only down seven. Need to play lot better.

 

Favorite stat: Spencer Hawes 8 minutes, 4 fouls.

 

Ariza needs to step up. Woeful series for him so far.

 

I get the pace thing, but anybody watching the game knows that's not the issue. The Rockets are a mess on that end. Constant blown assignments and lack of desire.
