    As social media managers go, was he performing at a "scrub" level? Honestly, I didn't follow him enough to know. I do agree that part of his job is to know how to skirt the line between being funny/entertaining and not making the organization look bad.

    Firing might not have been necessary but we don't know things as:
    1) maybe he was already walking the line
    2) He did not understand the problem of his tweet (which is even worse than tweeting it)
    3) Of course there was a serious talking with him and he might not performed well during it.

    Now do we know none of these 3 happened?

    In conclusion: I'm sorry for Chad, him being fired is a pity, but on the other side, I'm relieved we do not have a ticking bomb as our PR manager.
