since 1970... http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/30/opinion/sutter-living-planet-report/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 RIP...
Hopefully this can stay in hangout. It's just sad. Basically there were twice as many animals when I was little. That's just really hard to get my head around. Spoiler That said, the ones I have eaten in my time have been delicious.
Well...you gotta eat something with potatoes and carrots. (edit...lulz...thought I'd be the first to post the delicious angle...apparently I cannot type fast enough)
Not really surprising, they are talking only about wild animals, and there is less "wild" to go around. The more humans populate and civilize the world, the less room there will be for wild animals.
The earth can not sustain the amount of people it has on it now, I think the average sustainable level is like 4 billion and we currently have 7 billion, or some such. We will wipe ourselves out in a few generations and the planet will begin again. DD
This is the result of the Western fascination in eating meat at places like McDonald's, Wendy's and Taco Bell. No surprise that all of these places originated in the 1970's or shortly before. This is when the great age of the decline of animals began. Soon you will only be able to see animals in zoos and on old footage from David Attenborough on BBC.
It's more than just eating meat. Habitat loss has also been driven by developing mono cultures like vast corn, soybean, and palm fields. Development and urbanization have reduced habitats further while redirecting resources, particularly water, has destroyed habitat. Also to bring this to D&D territory climate change has also reduced environments for many species.
LOL dafuq? The meat from places like McDonald's, Wendy's, and Taco Bell are domesticated farm animals that don't count in this study. Farm animals are thriving.
If somehow the NFL or a player in the NFL were responsible for this everyone would actually care. Too bad that isn't the case I guess.
You're obviously a 'half the animals are dead' kind of guy. I'm more of a 'half the animals LIVED!' kind of guy.
UGH... why would they stay alive forever?!?!?!? We would need many OLD ANIMAL RETIREMENT HOMES!!!! DUH! LOLs! Nice.
You can google "list of extinct animals". Actually you only have to type "list of ext" and google does the rest. Pretty handy website, that google.
