The upcoming Motorola Nexus X (Nexus 6) was spotted on benchmarking site GFXBench in mid-August, although the site only revealed certain details about the rumored handset at the time. Since then, information about the handset has been updated on GFXBench, AndroidWorld reports, with the website apparently confirming what a recent Nexus 6 AnTuTu benchmark sighting has suggested – that the handset will indeed pack monster specs.

According to the GFXBench listing for the Motorola Shamu (Nexus X), the phone has a 5.2-inch display with 2560 x 1440 display, 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a slew of sensors including barometer and NFC, and Android L under the hood.

A recent report claimed that Google might be interested in launching two different Nexus X models when it comes to screen size, including a 5.9-inch and a 5.2-inch model, which would explain the screen size discrepancies between the various reports that offer hardware details for this particular Motorola handset.

The Nexus X is expected to arrive in late October with Android L in tow.

A few weeks old, but if true those specs are awesome. Hope that the battery is big enough to support specs like these.

We haven’t seen a new Nexus device from Google so far in 2014, but according to Portugal-based tech blog 4GNews, HTC will reveal its Nexus 9 tablet at an upcoming media event on October 8th. This is the same media event that we reported on last week after receiving an invitation in our inbox with the title “Double Exposure.”

The invitation provided virtually no indication about what the event would focus on, but a reliable source speaking to 4GNews expects the premiere of the Nexus 9 with a waterproof, “tube-shaped” 16-megapixel camera, Bluetooth functionality, WiFi connectivity and the ability to control the tablet from an Android or iOS phone with a special app developed by HTC.

The source also confirms some specifications that had been previously leaked, including the tablet’s 3GB of RAM, 9-inch Full HD display, 16GB of internal memory, 100GB of Google Drive storage for two years and NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 mobile processor. The Nexus 9 might also be one of the first devices to ship with Android L on board.

Whatever HTC brings to the Double Exposure event next month, we’ll be on the scene to see what the company has in store for the last quarter of 2014

Sounds great - so damn powerful.

I'll definitely be buying a Nexus tablet (9" looks like) when the announcement comes.

Just noticed that the Nexus devices have a barometer inside them - very cool! Don't know of very many apps that make use of a pressure sensor apart from elevation/maps/weather functions.

Indeed. My phone is 5" and my tablet 7".

I'm not sure I want to just carry around a 6" phablet all the time though.

Unless you wear tight pants the issue isn't carrying it around, the issue is the inability to operate with one hand.

I sold my 1st gen Nexus 7 to my cousin and got the iPad Mini when it went down to $200, I barely use it, I used my Nexus 7 more, debating on keeping the iPad Mini anymore

excited to see the line of Nexus, love my Nexus 5, loved the 4 before it, and still rocking the Nexus 10

Hm 5.9" screen or 5.2". I realize I'm in the minority, yet I preferred the 3.7-4.0" screen size o the Nexus One and Nexus S. They fit the pockets of dress slacks and suit pants much better than the massive new devices. I still look at my Nokia 6300 classic as the perfect size and design for business.

A new mock-up image of the next Nexus smartphone has surfaced on the Internet, ostensibly based on new leaked details about the yet-to-be-revealed smartphone that's expected to be called the Nexus 6 or Nexus X.
The mock-up was posted by Android Police's Liam Spradlin, who noted, "Based on new information, I've put together this image that depicts - as faithfully as possible - what the Nexus 6 will look like," adding that he can "confirm it will be a 5.9-inch device called the Nexus 6."

In-line with previous rumours, the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X mock-up looks like an elongated version of the second-generation Moto X. Also visible are dual front speakers, while the power and volume rocker button placement is slightly different compared to Moto X (Gen 2), and has been moved down a bit - which can be credited to the larger form factor.

The Nexus 6 aka Nexus X mock-up image also shows revamped icons on an Android L home screen, including the dialler, Chrome, and Play Store. There's also what appears to be the Messaging app - speculated to include Hangouts as an option. Android Police also notes the presence of folders, such as one for Google apps, one for the the Drive suite of editing apps, and one for Play - which may include either games or apps downloaded from Google Play.

The mock-up of the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X also has no demarcated status bar on top, with Wi-Fi, network signal and battery indicators visible above the background and sporting a solid look in-line with Android L's Material Design philosophy.

Android Police also claims to be able to confirm the specifications of the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X, which are in-line with previous reports. It's said to bear a 5.9-inch QHD 496ppi display, a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS with a "new dual-flash ring configuration," a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a larger than 3200mAh battery. Previous reports had indicated the next Nexus will feature a Snapdragon 805 processor, and 3GB of RAM.

Android Police's mockup does not feature the sides or the back of the smartphone, but the website claims the "edge of the device will have the same aluminium frame as the new Moto X." The report also notes the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X will be compatible with Motorola's new turbo charger for fast charging.

Reports have for a while indicated that Google is partnering with Motorola for the next Nexus smartphone, and recent reports indicate it may be released in mid-October (October 15 or 16).

In addition to the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X, Google is also expected to announce the next Nexus tablet believed to be manufactured by HTC - the rumoured Nexus 9, along with the general release of Android L.

Reports also hinted at a possibility that Google may debut 2 Nexus smartphones this year.

On Monday, an alleged Nexus 6 aka Nexus X was seen running an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) build of Android L in another leaked image. The model number of the device in the leaked image was seen listed as 'AOSP on Shamu' tipping that it might be from a prototype device.

We have been already treated with a leaked image that showed the Google's much-anticipated next Nexus smartphone pictured alongside LG's flagship G3 smartphone.
