The Houston Rockets are trying to acquire free agent Ramon Sessions

Hell no we won't trade Dmo for Sessions. Milwaukee cast Sessions out without so much as a free parting gift (lifetime supply of Jiffy Popcorn). Why would we give up anything of real value for him?

I know for which player you think we might trade Dmo; is that scenario still a real possibility among other possibilities?

Wasn't his injury back in December or January? A year and a half for foot surgery? Haven't been able to find a recent injury update on him.

 

yeah not much has been made public about him. i guess competitively hes not able to play at a high level. he was trying to make a comeback for FIBA this summer. damn he really fell off after his season with houston.

 

The Clippers have put themselves in a huge bind if they have an injury.

They now have $80.2 million in committed salary to 13 players. They are hard capped $80.8 million (due to the apron rule).

Essentially, they can add 1 minimum rookie deal for the rest of the season.

 

Jeff Adrien > Donatas Motiejunas

Milwaukee's 2015 second round pick > Motiejunas

Robert Covington (probably) > Motiejunas

Milwaukee's 2015 second round pick + another second round pick > Motiejunas

Motiejunas = probably a non-rotation player for Houston in 2014-15, if not traded

Also:

Motiejunas' 2014-15 salary = $1.5 mil

Ramon Sessions' 2014-15 salary, in my proposed scenario = $3.6 mil

Kostas Papanikolau's $4.8 mil salary + Sessions' $3.6 mil salary + Clint Capela's (or Isaiah Canaan's) $900,000 salary = $9.3 mil total

$9.3 mil x 150% = $13.95 mil

These three players can therefore be packaged with various draft picks for a player who makes up to $13.95 mil in 2014-15.

Papanikolaou's $4.8 mil salary + Motiejunas' $1.5 mil salary + Capela's or Canaan's $900,000 salary = $7.2 mil

$7.2 mil x 150% = $10.8 mil

These three players can only be packaged together for a player who makes up to $10.8 mil. There are any number of desirable veterans who CAN be obtained with Sessions who CANNOT be obtained with Motiejunas, in other words.

Trading Jared Dudley for Carlos Delfino is a steal for the Clippers.

 

Is someone high?

 

He's gonna be out most of the season. I don't think it's a bad gamble, if healthy he can be better than Dud. But mostly it's a salary dump for them.

 

If we don't land any of our pg targets (Bled/Drag/Rondo/etc...) then Bev starts... who's our 6th man filling the sparkplug off the bench role?... I doubt its Cannan or Ish... maybe Johnson... Sessions is just in case Nick isn't up to the role in his first season....
