    Strange thread.

Beverley would be 'solid' as a starting point for the Rockets.
It is a failure to judge his offensive contribution on his assist numbers, or to say that his assist numbers mean he isn't calling plays. It is a failure, because it is flat out wrong.

Last season, with Beverley on the court (over 82 games), the Rockets produced a differential of +8.1 per game. That leads all Rockets who played significant minutes. (Harden +7.0 and Howard +6.9 were 2nd and 3rd).
This doesn't make Beverley an all-star, it simply illustrates that with him on the court, the Rockets outproduced their opponents.

And it's not just a positive figure because he plays good D.
Offensively the Rockets were at 115.7ppg with him on the court, with him off 110.5
    [Parsons on: 114.3ppg off: 110ppg]
    [Lin on: 111.3 off: 114.4]

Clearly Beverley is doing something right while on the court, and it is something more significant than either of Parsons or Lin.

Ish Smith is available. Suns just released him. Could be a solid backup.

when your options are Beverley and a bunch of D-Leaguers, not hard to envision threads like this popping up.

Don't forget their 18th overall pick Tyler Ennis

    Bledsoe, Dragic, Thomas, Ennis.

Teflon don? No stats all star?

It's easier to look good when you have pieces that compliment you and vice versa. However, when those pieces aren't there you will be exposed when you have limitations.

The Rockets have two playmakers. Remembering to pass the ball to Dwight in the post is the ultimate play. Opens up opportunities for everyone.

The Rockets offense, surprisingly, will be tested this year.

Agree with OP - without Lin and Parsons who is going to help Harden out with the playmaking? Say what you will about these two, but they are difference makers on the perimeter alongside Harden.

Has Beverley shown any promise whatsoever when it comes to penetrating, beating his man off the dribble, or doing anything beyond open threes and the occasional offensive rebound?

Can we trust Ariza, the guy who is coming off a career year from 3s after playing with John "best drive and kick guard in the NBA" Wall, after a career of low 40 fg% and terrible handles?

Maybe our savior is Canaan or the Rook, despite them having no NBA experience while expectations to contend are sky high...

All in all, if we don't make a play for another perimeter creator, we're in deep trouble.

Ohhh defense. Yeah its great but we need a point guard who can do more than just that. I love Bev but I hope he's our backup. He's not starter material

Agree, PBev will be our starting pg. I hope with this off season he will improve his 3.

LOL he could've easily had 9 but all 5 guys on the floor are willing passers so he doesn't dominate the ball as much.

Harden was also All NBA first team. But that didn't stop him from sucking in the first round playoffs, did it? PBev's aggressive style may work in some regular season games. But he'll get eaten alive by the Russel Westbrooks and Damian Lillards in crunch times just like last season. McHale's hero ball defense doesn't work against the smart teams. Nobody can stop those quick guards when they ran around through their sets. It's amazing how McHale sold us the "defensive stopper" PG concept to hide his inability to devise a good team defensive strategy. What a load of crap!

This has nothing to do with Lin and everything to do with the team. You need to take off your Lin-foil hat and stop seeing LOFs everywhere
