Jose Altuve is not even close to being an All-Star right now and that is bull! he leads the MLB in hits, so what do you say guys, go vote! Vote all Astros if you want! I voted for Dominguez, Fowler, Castro and Altuve, unfortunately you can't vote for Springer... and you can vote like 35 times you just have to keep putting in the numbers. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2014/ballot.jsp?sponsor=experian
Top 10 in: average doubles stolen bases hits Definitely should be there starter, but likely wont. For sure should get in from coach selection. I've always thought all the major sports have done the all-star games wrong. Coaches/players should select starters and reserves get popular vote. But of course that'd be the smart/right thing to do and I know the "vote" is the only way to keep interest.
Well Altuve's making headway, beating Cano was never realistic but he's gotten closer to Kinsler and Pedroia than I would have thought. Signs he's starting to get national appreciation beyond being really tiny.
He has made himself into a lock to make the team. I also think he is the only Astros player that makes it, though Springer & Keuchel have a shot.
I think Springer makes the Homerun Derby while Keuchel is at home. I think Dallas has had an amazing run, but his past two starts needed to be of the elite level to cement his spot. I think there are other pitchers that will get the nod on teams that only send one All Star. If I read last year's ballot correctly, there were 8 starters on the team last year for the AL which would make you think Dallas has a good chance, though.
Plus, there has to be at least one pitcher who makes it who ends up pitching the Sunday before the game, thereby making him unavailable and they need to end up naming a replacement. If Kuechel doesn't get in on the first round of selection, I'd say he has a good shot at making it as a replacement. Being a lefty certainly doesn't hurt his chances, as managers would be more likely to use him as a LOOGY in the ASG anyways.
