    It's a shot in the dark but anyone here an expert in entertainment law and/or TV contracts?

    I can't say much except there's a deal on the table for a show I pitched; I need to figure out what's a fair and standard deal as creator in my case. Unfortunately there's been a lot of maneuvering and lack of communication between multiple parties and I'm stuck with a decision to sign ASAP.

    I'd love to hire Scott Baio to get me a Ted Danson level deal but I don't think there's time for that.

    And just to be safe I'd rather not say what the show is about right now.

    Best thing in this situation would be to find a lawyer who specializes in contracts and especially entertainment deals. There are plenty in the Houston area, just do a quick search. It may cost something but it's better to be safe at the start and make sure you know what you are getting into.

    Just a warning--there aren't going to be many lawyers that specialize in entertainment deals in Houston. Primarily you just need a contract lawyer to go over whatever they are offering you. If you are working with a major network you won't need someone to draft the contract, just to ensure that you aren't screwed over.

    I just graduated from law school and i'll be practicing entertainment law (mainly music) in nyc after the bar this july.     I have an interest in doing some entertainment work after the bar, but I am taking the bar in Texas so any work I will be doing will mainly be in Houston/Austin. Nice to see other posters with an interest in the field.
