Yes there is: http://www.wxresearch.com/snowhou.htm 1895 would be complete chaos if that were to happen again. Yes you are correct. Models beyond 4-5 days are to be used as a trend not a forecast solution. Once we get to Sunday or and these models still show this scenario, then it will need to be taken more seriously.
Sure will. I will post it this evening when the 18z GFS is done running. Its only through 120 hours on my system right now. The Euro only runs at 00z and 12z.
That list can be added on to now as IAH recorded a trace of snow on both Friday and Tuesday. Very rare to have two recorded snowfalls within a week in southeast Texas. If 2 inches of snow can lock down Atlanta, what would happen to Houston if 20 inches of snow fell like what happened in 1895! In the 2004 Christmas Eve snow I think Victoria had about a foot of snow, so big snows can happen around here...plenty of moisture in the Gulf to pull from.
Great, thanks David! I was actually wondering about the historical significance of the last two events. It's pretty amazing (if not unprecedented) that we get two winter weather events within the same week.

^^ Great find on the pictures. Could you imagine something like that happening this day in age? I didn't get around to posting the 00z runs last night so here is the Euro. This is extremely good consistency (4 days in a row now). Albeit, the totals are lighter but do not worry about totals right now. The fact that is still showing precipitation with the cold is key. This is for next Thursday-Friday. Spoiler The GFS is keeping the frozen precip well to the North (Dallas area and northward) however it is starting to lean more towards the Euro solution. If it keeps up then next week will be fun to watch.
Winter weather Advisory in place for Houston, light sleet and snow flurries. Third week in a row Houston is under a winter storm or winter weather advisory...wow.
Ha, I never watch the weather, only check my phone. Nothing said there would be an advisory and I woke up to light snow falling and these big ice pellet looking things covering my yard. WTF?
Lol that is usually how it works here in Houston. When it is forecast to happen, it busts. When nobody mentions it, it snows lol
