I'm looking to replace the carpet in an older Ford Expedition. Has anyone done this them self? I'm curious to know if this is something i would be able to do myself. If that doesn't work maybe i can get a recommendation on a shop and possible price range

Yes, I have replaced the carpet in one of my Mustangs. You will have to take out all the seats, remove the center console if you have one, remove paneling, remove old carpet, clean floor pan, and reglue the new carpet into place. I ordered a carpet online. It's entirely doable, but then again, I was very familiar with my car. Good Luck

Do you remember the site and price you paid?? My biggest concern is the tools needed to take out the seats.. I have no idea where to get them

I don't remember the price I paid. It's been years. A simple standard/metric socket set should work just fine.

You can double-click on the thread title in the listings (BBS Hangout page), and rename the thread title.

You'll never get it all out with shampoo. It's not that hard to do yourself really, we have an upholstery shop next door to my shop that does all our interiors. Email me thru the board and I can send you the contact info maybe even a quote if you choose to have it done.

$600?! Yeah, that's straight up robbery! I replaced carpet and headliners at an auto detailing shop I worked at when I was 18. It's very easy to do on your own.

cant verify if they are cheap or not it was so long ago and my grandfather paid for it but it was quality work..

i do not recomend trying it yourself unless you have the OEM carpet that will just fit into your cars floor. i tried one of those universal carpets, it was a trainwreck..

Thanks. Buying a carpet online and having fits with installation would aggravate the s*** out of me, and with my luck this is exactly what would happen. It may not even be worth it money wise to even go to a shop. I just picked up the vehicle for pennies from a coworker but I'm a neat/germ freak when it comes to carpet or anything that looks nasty.
