Agreed but with a lot more athleticism. He will be very very good if he can get conditioned and stays healthy.

It's a wasted pick because they clearly left better prospects on the board because they wanted quick wins. If they didn't expect instant impact then why get Thompson over Valanciunas? Valanciunas is bigger, more athletic, has more experience and I believe is actually younger than Thompson, so telling me a raw undersized PF is better than an internationally recognized up and coming 7 foot prospect doesn't really make sense. 12 and 9 when you're force fed minutes isn't that big a deal, our own DMo and Tjones will put up similar production if we give them minutes esp. since Thompson didn't really convert at a decent percentage.

Thompson was playing 31 mpg, which isn't really a huge amount of minutes. Averaging 11 rebounds per 36 minutes is very good. It is also extremely encouraging the improvement from year 1 to year 2.

Valanciunas isn't exactly proven either. Top international picks have featured a number of busts over the years.

Waiters actually looks pretty solid this year. Lost a lot of weight and is light on his feet. Still strong and seems like he understands the game much better.
