Lin and DMo for S&T Milsap. Utah has a replacement for the PGs that are bolting...and he actually might resign in Utah unlike most players. Moving Milsap and Jefferson (coming soon) will make way for Kanter and Favors.

Milsap is the perfect stretch 4 that will not only excell on our team but will greatly help our other players games by spreading the floor. He will be cheaper than Smith and LMA cost wise and who we have to part with...and is a better fit for this team.

Either sign a FA pg or trade Asik for good pg. Howard / Milsap / Parsons / Harden / ? That team with a decent bench would contend for years.

Jazz just drafted Burke with the 9th pick via TWolves (none of the teams picking ahead of them really needed a PG) to fill their PG needs the way the Blazers got Lilllard.

If you're going to look at Lin trades, you should consider these teams:

Milwaukee, Detroit, Charlotte, Toronto (possibly if they move or waive Lowry), New York, Orlando, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Sacramento, and yes....the LA Lakers.

If Lin is traded, he's most likely going to one of these 10 teams.

New York is capped out and doesn't have any assets or large salary pieces they want to give up unless you want to pick up Amar'e Stoudemire. And Felton has a player option, which is a no-no for Morey. That means Knicks can't give cap relief or give back a starting pg. Morey reportedly said no deal unless he can get back a starting pg since Bev fouls out and isn't proven yet against more than backups. So, no to Felton and his player option, and no way to get a new PG with freed up cap space.

Charlotte has Kemba Walker. Atlanta has Teague as restricted. SacTown has Isaiah Thomas who was doing better at the end of the year and still on rookie contract. Toronto depends on what they do with Lowry. Lakers supposedly aren't doing S&T's with Howard, but we'll see. Philly has Hinkie, so who knows what he has cooked up with Morey potentially, since they came from the same system and would value the same things in players.

As for whether Jeremy is a significant upgrade or not for those teams, it doesn't matter. They're not desperate for a PG since they have someone serviceable in place, which means Morey can't extract as much from them since they don't have a desperate PG need.

Jazz would have been a good situation with their desperately needing a PG, but that need ended on draft night. With a lotto 9th pick pg draftee, they have to give him lots of minutes starting like the Blazers did with Lillard to see if they have something there with Trey Burke. They'll only be looking for a PG near the trade deadline if Burke doesn't pan out.

I really don't think now is the best time to trade Lin. If you're going to trade him, you should wait till the trade deadline, after he's put up a full year doing what he did in the second half of last season, and with lots of assists to Howard and/or Josh Smith. That brings Jeremy's trade value up.

That also gives time for teams who think they have found a PG option to be desperate if those options (like rookie Burke) don't pan out, or if they need that extra oomph for the playoff chase (whether they want Lin to start or as a 6th man), or if they're looking to tank and decide to jettison assets that might be more attractive to a contending team (like the Rockets hope to be by the trade deadline).

NY is a remote possibility. I listed teams that Lin would be an upgrade to. NY has Copeland ready for a possible S&T along with Felton and Shump. Morey would probably like to have Shump. Felton...not so much. It would be a 3-team deal at least.

Kemba Walker is a midget shooting guard. Charlotte may have interest in Lin or in a Lin/Asik package....gotta think creatively Skyhoop.

Isaiah Thomas is another midget. Not saying he isn't a good player but Sacramento is a team looking to create buzz. Their coach knows Lin from GS days. Lin would create a huge buzz there and make them better.

Lakers have been consistent that they are not going to take players back. However, when it comes down to Dwight actually walking here, they could cave. Lin would be an attractive draw in LA, in a season where they are likely to be down in attendance. The TWC guys would probably go for it. I'm saying it's a possibility. That's all.

Teague is restricted. However if he gets a significant money offer, ATL may go the cheaper route and take Jeremy for 2 seasons. Once again, he'd help them draw there and they have a pile of cap space to fill up.

Here's the deal: If you trade Lin now as part of a sign-and-trade transaction for Dwight and do not use cap space, you also get the MLE and the Bi-annual exception. You have to consider that as extra trade pieces. And staying above the cap opens up a whole world of acquisition possibilities and retentions. If you sign-and-trade Brooks or Delfino or Garcia along with Lin/TRob/White/Smith....now all of a sudden you're above the cap and you can re-sign the other guys and still have the full MLE and the bi-annual exception to work with. So, we could conceivably sign Brooks for another team and move him simultaneously with Lin/TRob/RWhite/GSmith to bring in Dwight and then be able to unrenounce Garcia and Delfino and bring back both of those guys and also have the MLE and bi-annual exceptions to get a replacement point guard and/or defender, etc.

The full MLE could possibly bring in Llull.....or.....what if it gets you Jarrett Jack???.....or what if it brings you Ivan Calderon (probably the best shooting point guard in the game right now)?

Too many options while retaining Asik and both DMO/TJones to build out the team and set us up for many, many trade possibilities in the future.

NY doesn't have Copeland's bird rights, nor do they have free cap space. Since Copeland was on a Minimum contract, that means the non-bird exception only allows a 20% increase above Minimum. That means they can't offer him enough in a S&T to be worth his while.

There's no way a Copeland S&T is in any way realistic. Not enough money to get him to say yes in light of market demand (other teams have approached him). Further, there might be some locker room issues when you have ex-teammates who went into the press calling his contract "ridiculous" and the parting wasn't exactly harmonious.

As for "midget PGs", Jeremy Lin (6'3") Kemba Walker(6'1") and Teague (6'2") are all taller than Chris Paul (6'0").

And the Kings coach who knew Lin from his GS days is the one that kept him on the bench behind not just Monta Ellis and Steph Curry, but also bad PG's like Acie Law (out of the league) and never gave Lin significant play or believed in him. The same coach that got fired from the Warriors for his ineptitude, as well as getting roasted for not realizing what he had or believe in Lin after Linsanity. I doubt the relationship is a positive. And that's assuming he even stays on the Kings, since the new ownership may choose to clean house and get rid of the coach.

The Llull thing is hampered by the buyout. If it is a 6 million euro buyout as indicated in Llull's interview after signing the 2018 contract, then there's no way a MLE contract would be enough to cover it. All indications are that there's no chance of him coming over this year. We've discussed this before, in a thread you created about that subject Basketballaholic.

I don't see the Blazers taking anything back of negative value in a trade that involves LMA.

Asik, Lin, White (cash to cover buy out), Canaan
    ...for...
Josh Smith & Dennis Schroeder(the rights to),

    THEN

    Motiejunas
    ..for...
    Courtney Lee

    Howard / T. Jones / Ohlbrecht
    J. Smith / T. Jones
    Parsons / T. Jones / C. Lee
    Harden / C. Lee
    Beverlery / Schroeder / C. Lee

T Jones and C. Lee should both average 20 plus minutes a night in a tight rotation
    J. Smith can play some back up 5 if needed
Schroeder maybe an all-star in time

Yeah...we don't have proof of the buyout Skyhoop. You are reading too much into that little interview which was almost a year ago anyways. So the buyout could be a lot lower now. No confirmation or really solid information on that buyout. I just mentioned Llull as a possibility because of the unknown factors. I think if he were brought over with Lin gone that he would be the de facto starter from day 1 and it would be his job to lose.

You are right on the Knicks. Did not keep up with Copeland being 1-yr vet. I suspect he's gonna get more than the minimum. I had previously considered NY before the proposed Novak/Camby deal for Bargnani. So, Lin to the Knicks wouldn't happen during the off season most likely. Still a possibility at the deadline if he is still here.

However, I keep saying...it wouldn't surprise me if Lin is not a Rocket after next Friday or at the least within the next month. If we do sign Dwight outright without executing a sign-and-trade for him then Lin could possibly be here longer.

It's pretty rare for a 9th selection to start right from the start. Generally they are brought on at a slower pace off the bench.

If HOU lands DH and then trades away Lin I have a feeling Shaun Livingston will end up here in HOU again.

If Rockets get Dwight, how about a trade of Omer Asik for Ryan Anderson? Pelicans need a center because they traded Robin Lopez and Anthony Davis is better suited as a PF. Rockets could use a stretch 4 like Anderson alongside Dwight. They both had sucess together with the Magic. Plus, they make similar money as well.

No way does Rondo go out unless its for much larger haul. And putting White in there decreased the value of the Rockets trade chips with the spectre of a lawsuit.

You'd have to start with Asik and Parsons for a guy with playoff experience and is a double-double machine that can be a triple double threat on any night like Rondo, even if he's ball dominant and can't shoot so can't be paired with Harden.

Makes alot of sense. But, I Dont' know if Atlanta believes in Lin and Asik after all the negative Media attention Lin has gotten recently.

Until evidence surfaces otherwise, the only solid piece of evidence on actual numbers is that published in the interview following his signing the 2018 contract, indicating a 6 Million Euro Buyout by a reputable paper in his hometown interviewing him and with him not contesting the 6 million euro buyout figure the reporter presented to him.

The reporter says the very words "6 million euros" for the buyout. And he answers the question without disputing that figure. In a reputable Madrid sports newspaper.

The burden of proof would be on you to dispute the 6 million euro buyout figure. I would take the word of a reputable Madrid sports newspaper. It doesn't matter that it was a year ago, or rather half a year, since the interview was conducted right after he signed the contract. The date on the interview is December 29, 2012. Seven months ago, after he's signed the contract.

I think you may be confusing the April 14, 2012 TuBasket article that mentions a 5 Million Euro Buyout on his old contract with the December 29, 2012 AS interview with the 6 Million Euro Buyout on his new 2018 contract.
