Why didn't we send Ron Paul with our delegation to meet Howard?

I heard on NBA tv that Josh wants to prove he is a max guy. So I dont see him coming here for less than 14 mil.

I've been hoping for those 2 to be paired from the beginning. We'd be a defensive juggernaut.

Last season Josh Smith was paid $13.2m and I think the max for him will be around $16.5m this season.

Asik counts as $8.3m cap hit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a straight up trade Asik for Smith doesn't comply with league salary matching rules of 150%.

    Asik (8.3) plus White (1.7) = 10m*150% = $15m

    Asik (8.3) plus White (1.7) plus T-Jones / D-Mo (1.5 / 1.4) = 11.5m

    Asik (8.3) plus Lin (8.3) = 16.7m

I'd like Josh Smith to take a cut and play for $12m, then we'd only have to shed Asik and White.

Your math is fine, but NOONE is paying Josh Smith the max, and I think common sense prevails and he comes to be the stretch 4 that Houston needs to go along with D12 at C and the Beard. Smith will sign for what we have available for a chance to be a part of a championship club instead of the overhyped, underaccomplished guy he has always been in ATL.

I'm sorry... is there a rule that states we must absolutely have Omer Asik or Josh Smith on the team?

I disagree, a lot of teams will pay Josh the max. Including the Rockets. Why u think we are trying to get rid of Asik, and Lin. Just traded Robinson and dropped Garcia, Brooks and Delfino.
