I am not a Republican, but so did I. I don't want sports or entertainment to become an avenue for political opinion. Nor do I want religion mixed with politics. Keep them separate. Give us a break from debate, in-fighting, manipulation, and distortion. I want fantasy. I want dunks, touchdowns, and run backs without pink shoes, blue shoes, or green shoes. Keep sports and real life separate. And if they don't, I will find entertainment some where else, and don't think for a minute that I will be the only one. If professional sports is smart, they will stay out of politics.

If you want to read a really good, but easy-to-read, book about how frequently sports and politics cross in American society, I recommend checking out Dave Zirin's "People's History of Sports in the United States: 250 Years of Politics, Protest, People and Play."
