In 2010, when he started opposite Asomogha, Oakland finished #2 in pass defense. I'd like to see him on the field with a healthy Joseph too.

I hope he's better than Phillip Buchanon was for us...

He has Olympic calibur speed and should be in his prime. Poor hips and questionable decision making have kept him from being a Pro Bowler in Oakland. Still, was a very good #2 CB in the past and a competent #1 for a season. I could see him doing well for the Texans if he has stayed in shape. It is all a matter of using him in the right situations and exploiting his insane speed and minimizing his weaknesses. Pollard is a perfect example, he was cut a few times before the Texans and Ravens learned how to use him and now he is an asset.

Hope he can contribute. We are getting depleted from injuries.

I agree that Routt would be able to contribute and maybe be a diamond in the rough, but if you're saying that Kareem isn't a legit #2 we've got beef.:p

If he's only been on the raiders and chiefs, he was behind both Nnamdi and Flowers.

"Legit Number 2" sounds about right. He'll give a line judge Tennis Elbow.

The first thing the Raiders GM did when he got here was cut Stanford Routt. While his 2010 was impressive, his 2011 was equally terrible. He's a yellow flag collector of the highest degree.

He would be nickel and dime package this season - sometimes facing the 4th receiver depending on whether Quin comes forward. Given the options, I like this a lot. No way can we face the Pats with Harris and Carmichael getting their feet wet.

As long as he's in playing shape, I say do it.

Seeing people get excited about scrubs makes me feel like I'm reading the GARM.

Getting the chance to sign a decent #2 CB when your current platoon of DBs consists of Kareem Jackson, Roc Carmichael, Brandon Harris, and Alan Ball is nothing to sneeze at.

Routt is only decent when compared to those. I seem to recall when him being an ok slot corner in his earlier years though.

He's a warm body. That's about all we can hope for at the moment.

I believe we found ourselves with a potential nickel back. Kareem is a legit #2 plus more.

I feel ridiculous saying this... But, I have a relative with some loose ties to the Texans organization. (Yeah, I know)

He told me that Joesph is 100%, and was good to go before the Tennesse game. The coaches just made the decision to rest him. IF that's true, I think Routt has the potential to have a Jason Allen type of effect in the secondary.

    Same question I am wondering.

All he did was take turns at the CB #2 spot while Kareem was still developing.
