it might just mirror the houston chronicle story today...which indicated that casserly is looking very seriously at lots of trade offers for that #3 pick.
Cadidates: Chicago? Arizona? Carolina? Denver? Jan. 14 - The Texans already are fielding inquiries about trading the No. 3 pick in April's NFL Draft, and GM Charley Casserly told the Houston Chronicle he's listening. This year's draft is well-stocked with quarterbacks, a position at which the Texans are solid. Houston is looking for offensive line help, and the idea of trading down a few spots and aquiring more picks is appealing. Cincinnati and Detroit pick ahead of Houston, and the Lions also have a solid young QB, meaning at worst only one top quarterback will be off the board when the Texans' pick comes up. Chicago, picking fourth, Arizona (sixth), Carolina (ninth) and Denver (20th) are all teams that could be in the market for a quarterback. Thank me very much
I think we should be able to get a tidy ransom from Chicago, seeing as how they're desperate for a quarterback and probably don't want us to trade with another team and lose out on Leftwich. Unless they're that high on Manning or Ragone.
Agree, a deal with Chicago is the way to go. We could even fake them into believing we have offers on the table. I think they would love to trade with us.
could we get an established OL and some draft picks from Chi?? or is that more than we could get for the pick??
i think you guys are missing a big factor in all this: the bengals have grumbled they'd prefer to trade the pick (they think kitna's the answer); that hurts houston's bargaining power. detroit, too, could be a player.
That alone says tells you everything you ever need to know about the Bengals. Ickey Woods should lead a Suicide Kool Aid Party.
Well this got interesting. Manning is staying in school for his senior year. The quarterback choices just narrowed and the pick potentially became more valuable because of it.
Word also has it that the Bears are not going to take a QB. Their Gm has hinted that they have more pressing needs on the D-line and may look at taking Suggs or Kennedy. The Texans best bet for a trade (if the Chicago rumor is true about not wanting a QB) would be with Dallas, Arizona, Jacksonville, and Carolina.
Of course their going to say that. Admiting they want a QB could start a bidding war for our pick. Thats especially true now that Manning announced his decision to stay in school.
That's actually the same way I think however I was just going by what their GM said. Going by logic (Bear just blowing smoke up everyone a$$ about not taking a QB) the Texans best trading partner could be the Cardinals. They are in desperate need of a QB and are in the 6th spot in the draft. The Texans could trade down to #6 and still be in position to draft a guy like WR - Andre Johnson who will be an absolute stud at WR in the NFL.
