Ok, but why spend a draft pick on him?

He might not ever play again, and if he does, he won't be the same - it seems like too much risk for far too little reward.

One name should clear this up: Lee Suggs RB Va. Tech
who suffered the same injury and returned to be nearly as good as he was before the injury.

    Just one more thing,

Channel 11 had the guts to show an up close shot of Mcgahee's knee snapping like a twig, and to make matters worse, they showed anothe pic of him on the cart be wheeled away but the camera was on what was left of his knee. God what a horrific sight. It just really makes my stomach turn. Ireally feel sorry for the guy, but I personaly think this will make him even more determined to succed in the NFL.

But there is a chance that he may gain his ability back. If he is there on the second day of the draft I think the Texans should take him. What if he comes back and has a season like Clinton Portis. Im not saying he will do it this year but maybe the year after next. Its a risk but he can't be any worse than the backs we have now.

    whoa, whoa,, whoa.

Lee Suggs injury wasn't near as severe as McGahee's is. Suggs had a tear in his ACL and meniscus - he didn't have a catastrophic rending of two knee ligaments. Suggs injury wasn't a minor one - but he didn't have his leg bent back on itself in a direction it was never meant to bend.

There is a chance McGahee might recover, and become a good player. It's not a very good one. That's what undrafted rookie contracts are for - to sign guys who are risks, and not worth using a draft pick on.
