I was shopping today at the Katy Mills mall. I had just walked up to the counter to pay for my magazine at the bookstore there. I heard someone yell, "help me!". I froze until I heard it again and turned to see a woman holding something. She looked at me again and yelled for help finally snapping me out of it.

What she was holding was her slumped over father, probably in his 80's. From where I was standing I could only see his upper back and it looked like she was holding a bag. Anyway, I ran (so my wife later told me) across the room and held her father. He was just slumped over, not saying anything but still awake. My wife had the cashier call for help.

We sat her father on the ground, still slumped over. I had no clue what was wrong with him. She said they had been walking and he just sort of passed out. My immediate thought was stroke or heart attack but I don't think that was it. We found something for his head and laid him down. She said he was getting pale and cold. He wasn't saying a word and looked out of it. I kept thinking how horrible it must be for this woman if this is the last she'll ever see of her father. Why can't everyone just die in their sleep from natural causes.

The paramedics arrived shortly and took over. Apparently the guy started coming around because they weren't in a panic. The daughter seemed to calm down as well. I went over to the counter to pay for my magazine. The guy there gave me some sort of discount and saved me about $2 bucks for my efforts I guess.

    It was a weird day.

At least you didn't give him CPR, like some good samaritans have done, only to break his ribs....

My first thought was "Sick! You kissed an old man!" But, you didn't. Great job though....

Even if you did, hey, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. ;)

You're a good man, Free Agent. It is now more important than ever that the citizens of the world act as brother and sister. The world would be a better place if more people like you were in it.
