Circuit City has Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 5200 Speakers for sal (just $10 off and $20 mail-rebate), but it says tat it needs a 5.1 or 6.1 compatible card. So does that mean it has to or it doesn't work or it just won't output 5.1. I'm thinking the latter would happen, but I don't know.

I remember that someone (on the board) got some speakers for Christmas that seem similar.

    Any help is good, thanks.

I believe that without a 5.1 sound card you will only get sound from 2 speakers. The 5.1 cards have 3 output plugs that connect to the speakers. However, you can get a good 5.1 card from Circuit City for about $70.And you can probably find it cheaper than that on pricewatch.

You can get an SB Live! 5.1 for only 30 bucks online. If you're gonna buy the speakers, you might as well spend a few bucks extra to drive all of them.
