The only reason I could think is that Leuer and Jordan had unguaranteed contracts and Brockman had a guaranteed one, but I'm not sure if it's true.

Well we can always sign him next year for a $25 million contract for 3 years next year when he comes into his own!

What? Should have easily been Courtney Fortson. I can confidently say I'm better then him.

Neither player could have been traded until later this year. Keeping the other guys help as filler trash on the trade to Orlando.

Leuer is 6-11 and has proven he can give solid minutes at C. The only partially guaranteed contracts are Livingston and Smith.

Assuming you're right about the partial guarantees, this makes a lot of sense. They will both likely be picked up off waivers and didn't have a chance of playing in Houston. Good for the players and good for the organization.

Rockets waive Jon Leuer & Jerome Jordan. Those upset by losing Leuer: his contract would have become fully guaranteed if not waived today.

The Rockets will make more cuts...some of the players that are remaining for now are going to be a part of a package (expiring deals) in order for the Rockets to make a deal. Might as well give a chance for players that may actually be useful for a bench...rathering than cutting a player before the season starts...Morey is giving these players a chance...

    Lame moves

This is the bad "asset" side of management.

    LOL.
    That sucks.
Chandler Parsons was looking forward to play with Leuer.

To those wondering why Jon Leuer:

Leuer was non-guaranteed, and could not be traded as part of a package until August 27th. As he makes the minimum, his contract was really untradeable aside from another player in the same position, or for a 2nd round pick which I guess Morey couldn't find a taker amongst the teams with cap space. Not to mention he would have been guaranteed after today (thanks Bima).

I'm confused, why would Asik become a backup center when Dwight begins playing for the Lakers?

I wonder if this tells us something about Livingston (Team Option). If he's healthy, he can be a very good PG off the bench.
