I can't really eat seafood. It makes me gag. I hate fish as well. Cilantro/coriander, too.

Is it something I should try to "work on" or just accept it as it is? Some people think I am too picky.

I think it's genetic or something - I just dislike it.

Water Chestnuts. Don't like it's texture on my tongue.

I hate fish with too much bony spines. And i find it quite ironic since i raise Tilapia for both consumption and sale.

Not a fan of curry and other powdery, oily spices.

I had an Indian friend who had it for staple and i have to say it quite reeked too much for comfort.

Dr Pepper is disgusting. As is Ice Tea.

I love seafood and cilantro though. If you hate seafood, it's probably because it wasn't as fresh as it should be. Or, because you have bad taste. :)

I used to think Dr. Pepper was nasty when I was younger. Now its my favorite soft drink bar none.

I love fish. Bass, salmon, lobster, shrimp, sushi are all bomb. Cilantro is great in everything too.

Water chestnuts is a good one. Adds zero value or flavor to a dish. I'm not a big fan of beets or black olives either.

I don't like anything soft that isn't also sweet or salty: no eggs, cottage cheese, sour cream, pudding, cheesecake or "free standing" cheese. I believe my banana hate is part of this whole trend. And potato salad just doesn't make sense to me. I guess this plus not eating vegetables regularly is probably what makes me fat.

No tomatoes: olives or pickles, cucumbers are fine though.

Typically refuse sweet potatoes; I think when I was younger I lumped them in with other sweets and liked them, but now they just seem misplaced.

So this thread wasn't really meant to be about individual food preferences - I wanted to ask if anyone successfully "trained" themselves to get over their hate for certain foods.

Until recently, I couldn't stand hummus. But now, I quite enjoy it. Not sure how or when that switch flipped. I still hate raw chickpeas, though. Alfalfa sprouts is another one which makes me retch.

I don't have a problem with cilantro, but I know lots of people can't stand it. One of those foods, I guess.

Used to dislike the taste of beer when I tried it as a kid. After intense training in high school and college, I've gotten over my distaste

Don't like Fish or Eggs, but I wish I did; I need that protein. I've been trying to like eggs because it is the perfect food in the morning when you're in a rush. I just don't like the taste and texture.

I recently trained myself not only to tolerate, but genuinely like yogurt. I always disliked it. Now I can eat it plain and as tart as it comes.
