    Grizzlies coach Lowe resigns
    Associated Press

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sidney Lowe resigned today as coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, the only winless team in the NBA this season.

Fred Jones, a local minority owner of the team, said the Grizzlies informed him of Lowe's resignation about noon Tuesday.

Lowe's resignation came the day after the Grizzlies lost their eighth game, playing at home against the Golden State Warriors.

Grizzlies management refused comment but was expected to hold a news conference later in the day.

Lowe was in his third season with the Grizzlies, which have never had a winning since the team began playing in 1995. The team moved to Memphis last year from Vancouver.

The Grizzlies had their best records under Lowe, 23-59 in the two previous seasons. Lowe was formerly an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers and head coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Too bad this didnt happen during the offseason. I would love to see Pat Riley coach this team even though he usually isnt a part of rebuilding projects.

I think this is good news for the Grizzlies. I don't think Lowe is a good head coach. Maybe Jerry West has someone in mind who will be right for that team. Lowe resigning this early gives them that much head start in bringing in a good coach.

Coaches usually don't quit like that during the season. A head coaching spot in the NBA is too hard to come by for a person to just quit like that. Either the players don't like him very much, or they're not giving their full effort, forcing him to quit...

Why is it always such a freaking crisis whenever the Warriors win a road game?

I swear, every time it happens, the other team fires its coach (GS got Pitino axed a couple years ago), holds a team meeting, shakes up its starting lineup, or some crap like that.
