The watch thread made me wonder if I was cheap and the 300+ dollar watch crowd are the majority.

No judgement -- if you work hard for your money you can spend it however you want.

    Just curious

I spent a little more than 100 bucks and I still use my cell to check the time... or I'd ask someone.

I never spent more than a 100 on a watch and never could understand how someone would spend thousands on one. However as a wedding present, my wonderful wife gave me one that cost around 5k, and I love it...

1400 for my Tag Heuer link last year. It was half off the normal price because of a friends and family sale.

I've never bought a watch always got them as gifts. I'm thinking none are worth more than a couple hundred.

I did inherit a rolex from my grandfather not sure on value but I'd guess its worth a couple thousand

I can't remember the last time I wore a watch that I bought myself and wasn't a gift. My current watch is a $7K Rolex.

Mine was a gift, and I doubt it was very expensive. I usually take it off after a while, since I don't really like having something on my wrist.

    $12.95 at Kohl's.

Certain things I just can't justify spending a lot of money on. Watches, shoes, sunglasses. I know as soon as I do, I'll break or lose them. If it's shoes, I'll inevitably step in a puddle and ruin them the day after I buy them.

I have three really nice looking fauxlexes (sweeping second hand and all, lol), but I pretty much only wear them to work or formal occasions. I think they all cost under thirty bucks. I don't really wear watches otherwise, so meh. Eventually I might buy myself a nice watch.

Ditto on my Rolex, but I have a Swiss Army that I wear daily and it was around $300...

I'd slap my wife across the face if she spent that kind of money on a watch for me.

It's pretty tacky to talk about how expensive your watch is. That being said, I love me some Movado's.

    I have 5 watches that I wear. 2 were under $100. 2 were around $250. 1 was $350.

I'm only 24 so as I establish myself more in life I certainly look to have 1 or 2 watches over 1K. Notably a Tag Heuer Carrera and a Panerai.

This. It's not about how expensive a watch was. It's all about quality and the look that appeals to you.

I haven't worn a watch in years because of the cell phone. But, if I were to decide to get one again, it'd be under $50 certainly. Wearing thousand dollar watches doesn't seem very... masculine.
