    typically the 03xx field(infantry) has the longest promotion from lance corporal(e-3) to corporal(e-4).

    at the moment my mindset is " i'm getting the **** out"... but who knows if i change my mind in a year. I'm in 2/6, and we just came back form Marjah... and we have go back to Afghan this fall.... so I just want to move on with my life and get my bachelors.

    The new GI Bill makes it a lot easier to get out these days. Add to that the Hazelwood Act in Texas and getting out isn't so scary.

    None, there are three wars going on right now involving American troops. If you enlist you have a much greater chance coming home in a pine box than if you just continue your education.

    greater chance? really? 800 men in my unit. 17 died in our last deployment. 17/800<.500..... And we were considered to be one of the hardest hit units as of late. We aint in Nam or WW2 here.
