    OOOPS!!

My credit card payment is due on October 24th (Thursday) and I have yet to mail it in. I have never been late on a payment.

Does it have to be postmarked by the 24th or do they have to RECIEVE it on the 24th? If its the later, can I somehow get an extension or something?

    Im freaking out.........

If you are really worried - call them and post a payment over the phone

My wife and I haven't mailed in a bill in a long time...

Or you can get a PayPal account and see if they (Credit Card Company) allows that form of payment, because with PayPal you can pay via a checking account or debit.

usually a payment isn't considered late until after 30 days (that's when it will show up on a credit report) I would just put it in the mail now and not worry. They'll get it before they make a big deal out of it...

rockHEAD is right. The credit card companies aren't stupid. Almost everyone is late every once in a while. If they reported all of these people as late, it would be bad for business. Now, once you get to be 30 days out, that's when they get a little pissy.

Besides, it's much easier to just charge you 25 bucks.

Ok I just looked at my statement and it said minimum payment due $0.00. I also called to check, and they said that no payment was due at this time.

Is it not good to pay, even if they say you dont owe anything right now?

    Im such an idiot.........

Since I am unemployed and basically have no income, It would be nice to not have to pay anything this month, although $25 or something I could manange.....

Most Credit Card companies, nowadays, will charge you a late fee if the payment isn't received on or before the due date (usually around $29.00). They will also generally raise your interest rate if you have one of those low interest cards. They may not report you to a credit bureau until after at least 30 days but they will charge you fees. If you doubt this, read your agreement.

You can usually get them to reverse the charge the first time if you call and ask.
