    This manages to be very funny in the context of describing a very sad season and appropraite at the same time. The people the wheelchair-bound professor (Yao in his injured state) passes are the rest of our roster?

    Its the last scene of Amadeus. The old man is Antonio Salieri, recounting the life of Mozart many years after his death. Salieri was a contemporary composer to Mozart, and in this largely fictional account he was a bitterly jealous rival with "mediocre" talent.

    The connection I draw is that Salieri is like the Rockets management. Bemoaning their great misfortune to have a team that's continually underperforming expectations, while jealous/angry over the success of rivals. Morey didn't explicitly say it, but in a recent radio interview he was kind of hinting that he wanted some of these other teams to suffer a major injury. Also, the way Morey makes excuses for his players even though he was selling the fans much brighter prospects last summer -- its like he's saying, "Mediocrities, I absolve you!" And of course, the cackle at the end of the scene is other, better teams collectively laughing at us.
