Well...yes. It's hard to let go of old love affairs. Here's Skip's ESPN bit before the 2006 draft

Besides the incredibly witty lead in of "Houston, you have a problem" here's my favourite bit:
Ohhhh...to be a highly paid NFL analyst...why hasn't some team scooped him up as a GM ;).

With Andrew Luck staying at Stanford, do the Panthers draft somebody else and sign him?

I don't. After Fitzgerald had to suffer through a season of rotating QBs who couldn't throw the ball downfield it would make no sense to being in Vince.

Montreal has been to the Grey Cup the past 3 years, won it the last two, and still have Anthony Calvillo, who's probably the third best quarterback in CFL history, after Doug Flutie and Warren Moon. He's 38, but I still think they'd take him over VY.

(Watched a lot of CFL this summer, living in Canada.)

Yeah, but maybe he can go to the Argos, we're one qb away from being a serious threat, providing we can keep Chad Owens.

Are you serious? Vince needs 3-5 options on a quick spread. He can't operate outside of that. He doesn't have any touch and can't control his passes outside of 10-15 yards. He would drop a deep ball perfectly and then overthrow a wide open receiver by 5 yards in the same game. You're delusional if you think otherwise.

Usain Bolt couldn't catch one of his overthrows.

The thing for Vince and all these open jobs is that there are other QB's out there, so just because there is a need, it doesn't mean that every opportunity is a natural fit. I've heard Kyle Orton mentioned with Arizona.

Beyond that, there's a reasonable chance that any Vince experiment will not work out. So you probably have to have a coach/GM that's willing to take risks. That works out to one of the following:

    (1) Coach that's very secure and not worried about a bad year if it doesn't work out. The ones that fit this bill probably have good QB's already.

    (2) A coach/GM that are on the verge of getting fired and need a sudden turnaround. That's the type of coach that's probably most likely to take a Vince and hope they can get the upside without the downside.

I suspect he's going to end up a backup for at least a year or two. Philly would really be the ideal situation for him assuming the rumors of him not "getting it" and not working hard are true. Vick had a lot of the same problems of relying on natural talent before growing up and doing the hard work of being a QB and could be an interesting mentor for Vince. Plus, given Vick's injury prone playing style, it would be fairly likely that Vince would get a chance to get in games here and there to showcase himself for the future.

Sall good. Come be with miserable with us. It's what Houston sports is all about!

Actually, I'm looking forward to our moves this off-season. The Texans have potential and I'm hoping that we get rewarded for the crap we've put up with for 2 decades (fan of Oilers since 92) just like the Saints did last season.

It's about time we got some good karma!

They're talking about trading him for a 1st rnd pick, with the Schaub trade as the value comparison. He got that contract for starter's money before the season.

No way they release him, but I think he's ready to be a stater somewhere. Unless something really bad happens this weekend, you've got to think Philly signs Vick to a long-term deal, so you almost have to trade Kolb. He should have a ton of value.

I don't know about a "ton" of value, but the Eagles will get something worthwhile in a trade for Kolb.

I think the Schaub trade set the bar [2 2nd rounders ]
Is Kolb a better prospect than Schaub was at the time?
