Senate is only one vote shy of 60. Will the good senator from MA, Mr Brown, be it? House Passes Standalone Don't Ask, Don't Tell Ban
They have Collins on board. I think 60 in the Senate is easy - it's a matter of finding time for the damn thing. I'm glad Reid made the threat to keep them in session as long as he possibly can.
Looks like this actually might get done! Scott Brown Backs Standalone DADT Repeal Bill, Murkowski Reportedly Does Too Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) is backing the standalone Don't Ask, Don't Tell bill in the Senate, his office confirms to TPM. Brown's vote puts the number of Senators publicly supporting the repeal bill at 61, enough to secure cloture on the bill and move it to almost-assured passage in the full Senate. Brown joins Republican Sens. Susan Collins (ME), Olympia Snowe (ME) in publicly supporting the measure. ABC News reports Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is also on board. Murkowski's office would not immediately confirm that report to TPM.
Was Bradley Manning gay? I don't really see any association either way. Straight people can and have revealed classified intel also.
Hmm interesting looks like this is finally going to pass. Although I wonder if we will get the flamboyant gay's who cant fight join the military Where is that video of the gay men having a street fight that someone posted awhile ago.
Manning is homosexual http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...aks-documents-raged-on-his-Facebook-page.html Mr Manning, who is openly homosexual, began his gloomy postings on January 12, saying: "Bradley Manning didn't want this fight. Too much to lose, too fast." At the beginning of May, when he was serving at a US military base near Baghdad, he changed his status to: "Bradley Manning is now left with the sinking feeling that he doesn't have anything left." Five days later he said he was "livid" after being "lectured by ex-boyfriend", then later the same day said he was "not a piece of equipment" and was "beyond frustrated with people and society at large". His tagline on his personal page reads: "Take me for who I am, or face the consequences!" Pictures on Mr Manning's Facebook page include photos of him on school trips during his time in Wales and at a gay rights rally, where he is holding up a placard demanding equality on "the battlefield".
Manning indiscriminately leaked 250,000 secret cables to a foreign entity. DADT is a bureaucratic policy. Similar?
I didn't know he was gay but if there is a connection regarding having homosexual's serve openly in the military and leaking classified documents I think its tenuous. If Manning leaked them because he felt that DADT was discriminating against him then the ending of DADT can only help but even with that I think Manning had many other reasons besides DADT to leak documents. Anyway Jonathon Pollard wasn't gay but that didn't stop him from passing on classified intel.
He’s more of an American than you? He volunteered to serve and defend our country. You were too busy at your cubical.
Is this intended to be humor? Implying that others are homosexual? Is that comedy to you? Childish, in my opinion.
Do you feel that homosexuals are more likely to be subversive? What about emotionally unstable? Manning said in his facebook chats prior to the leaks he was in "an awkward place" both "emotionally and psychologically"....is this something common for 18-24 year old homosexuals, as they struggle with their identity?
yep. they know they will face a lot of discrimination and hatred from family and friends because of their orientation, so they struggle.
no, just calling out a fact. i hope he serves and serves proudly. he'll make a fabulous soldier, i just hope he's found the man he was looking for.
meh. you use that card too much. he wasn't defending anything......unless of course you now believe Iraq was a threat and Condi was telling the truth. both ways. u can't has it.
No. Lots of heterosexuals struggle emotionally and psychologically too. When they are treated as pariahs and outcasts, sure. Just as anyone else who is treated as an outcast. BTW, I noticed you avoided the question. Do you have any original thoughts of your own, or is that above and beyond your capabilities?
