Too bad that that China has such a large pop. 10% could end up being more than Slovenia itself. What is the pop of it, anyway?

Yao will have more fans in Slovenia than Boki. There's no Boki mania last time I checked. MMUUWWAAHAAHAAHAA.

According to the CIA Factbook , there are about 1.9 million people living in Slovenia. And about ten that know about Boki or Yao...;)

0.2% of China's total population would be more than the whole Slovenia...

The CIA actually reports that the Slovenians actually think of "Boki" more as a type of porridge than "Boki" the basketball player, and "Yao" is a commonly used pick-up line at the local beer halls.

By sheer population, Yao HAS to have more fans in China. The NBA has a big enough worldwide presence to garner at least THAT much interest.

    China is HUGE!

I'd guess that Yao will have more Chinese fans in NY, San Fran/Oakland,
and Chicago than Boki's whole country.

Don't think so. Based on US census data, and if you consider that maybe 10% of the Chinese American population is interested in basketball, I would put that number close to 1 million. NY, SF/Oakland, LA (which is big ...) and Chicago may take 60%. So, I guess that number will be around 600,000 in those big cities. I bet that there are more slovanian bb fans than that number, though.

In addition, I really think that people should be a fan of some one not beacuse of their race but because of their skills. I think Yao Ming would certainly prefer bb fans around the world love to watch him play not just the Chinese bb fans.

I know I loved to watch Jordan play and I am not a black dude.
