Both posts were technically correct. 2K Games is the publisher (well, Take Two is, but this will be under their 2K Games label). Gearbox is the developer. Though I think Gearbox somehow has the IP now if I'm not mistaken.

But a correction in that the game is scheduled for next year, not 2010. PC, 360, and PS3. Early reports had it listed as 2010, but it must have been a mistake.

Anyway, I didn't get a chance to check out much of the stream (which seemed pretty crappy anyway). Just read a bit online. Sounds nice though. Also hilarious, especially some of the stuff they showed behind closed doors. Looking forward to it.

Not quite DNF related...

transcribing from my coworker...some guys decided to rewrite/redo Duke Nukem using the Unreal 3 Engine...with the publisher's praise. And, allegedly, it will be a free release.

This clip doesn't show too much...just how a converted area from old DN looks in the new environment. I'm impressed...and will be super thrilled if it truly does come out for free.

It does look pretty good for something pretty early. Good to hear it has the support of Gearbox, T2, etc. A lot of good fan projects tend to get killed by game publishers (the good old "cease and desist!"), so this is a welcome change.

 

It is not early...should be out early 2011, I think.
