In terms of depth and quality of starting players in that position, which position happens to be the weakest?

If we are just talking about starters then I will say small foward, we need someone a step better than battier right now. I also think that if we had a offense threat at that position (who could also defend well) we would be contenders.

    Center.

It was SF until Budinger developed Martin-esque ability to get open.

I agree... it's odd since Yao is the closest thing we have to a star player on the team.

Until he can show that he's all the way back, or very close to it, I have to go with center.

It also depends on how much Miller has left in the tank. After that, as awesome as Hayes is, we don't have a legit center. I like Hill's progression but he's still a work in progress and is more of a 4 anyway.

We have 2 Cs. The starter has a 24 mpg cap on his playing time and the backup has been in street clothes and is getting pretty old.

    Small Forward followed by Center.

The depth in center is worrying because of injuries.

Small forward, I feel Battier is slipping. Budinger offensively can take over. Just putting Battier onto the bench seems weird

    In preseason.

I'm actually fine with Battier - I think he's just the kind of defensive minded, efficient 3 that keeps the ball moving.

You asked two questions, and only gave a single poll.

In terms of quality, it's small forward right now. In terms of depth, it's center.

Definitely Small Forward. No one to back up Budinger or potentially start ahead of him after Shane gets traded or retires.

I think we're pretty even over the positions. Good starter and competent backup at every position. I think the problem is that we don't have a fulltime superstar in any of them.
