What are some good War stocks?

    Just out of curiosity, where wuold you put your money. Somebody is going to profit from this war. I'm just wondering who?

    I'd put my money in big companies with defense contracts. In the case of war, these companies should do quite well.

    For general investing tips, I recommend you watch Your World with Neil Cavuto. He has really good information and guests with a wide array of perspectives.

    Id stay away from the mkt during a war...at least at the beginning of the war

    youd probably have better luck betting football

    During WW2, many people made thousands by investing in "vice" stocks like candy, cigarettes, alcohol, etc.. People at home turned to these "luxuries" as a sort of escapism from the war.

    Bonds may be your best bet. Buy them and hold them to maturity.

    The stock market is still overvalued. Surprisingly the recent fall in valuations lag the fall in earnings. Values need to stabilize and earnings need to bounce back, before stocks will be worth the risk again.

    The coming Iraq war will likely slow down the modest recovery that is afoot. This may mean that the stock market will if anything lose more money. Even if the defense contractors do well, the market may still drag them down with the whole lot but not as much so.
