Toronto gives Amir Johnson 34 million

Does this make a SnT with Toronto for Bosh harder? They might be less inclined to take back any salary (as opposed to just letting him walk or trading for a trade exception) now.

 

Before this deal, Toronto had 48.4 million committed to 8 players. Add Amir at 6.8 per and that's 55.2 mil for 9 players, and that's before signing their rookies and filling the rest of the roster. If their taking money back in a Bosh SnT, will they be in lux tax land?

No, they would not be in luxury tax land. The 2009-10 season had a luxury tax threshold of $69.92 mil . The 2010-11 season should be at the same level or higher.

If Bosh is gone in a sign and trade, his outgoing salary would be about $16.5 mil. Raptors would only need to take in about $13 mil back to make the trade work. Amir's salary for 2010-11 would be used for calculation in 2010-11 season, not the average of the full length of the contract. Amir's starting salary would be less than $6 mil.
