I picked up the game yesterday and spent an hour or two playing around with it. It's a pretty cool game, but it reminds me almost exactly of the N64 Mario game (with better graphics, of course). The only difference is the FLUDD water jet thingy on your back (and an appearance by Yoshi). Kind of reminds me of the difference between Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Zelda: Majora's Mask. Differing storylines and weapons/tools, but same basic gameplay, characters, and goals. Overall, from what I've seen so far, the graphics are great, the controls are easy enough to learn (although more complex than Mario 64), and the game is a blast to play. Anyone else buy this game yet?
i'll probably rent it first, i didn't really like mario 64, but i have to atleast try the new mario game. what i'm really waiting for is the new metroid.
I picked it up Monday and have enjoyed it so far, but it is very similar to Mario 64. Between this, NFL2K3, Super Monkey Ball 2, SOCOM, and the PS2 network adapter I'm going to be very busy and very broke. And I like it.
A friend got this game yesterday, and I played it. It's graphically beautiful and has an interesting plot line. But the game play gets frustrating after a while.
I have not played it yet, but I am definitely going to buy it if it is very similar to Mario 64. I loved that game tremendously. I can't wait to play Sunshine.
i went out and bought super monkey ball 2 this evening. the first one is addicting as hell and this one is just as good, but seems a little harder. monkey tennis kicks ass.
I'll pick up Super Mario Sunshine in mid-September. Apparently the water pack on Mario's pack adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay, but besides that the gameplay is very Mario 64-esque....which is a good thing in my eyes. Also, I understand that Mario Sunshine is considerably harder than Mario 64, and that's another plus in my eyes. On the downside, a number of people who have played Mario Sunshine have complained about the camera system. The camera system (bad angles, etc.) was the main and perhaps only flaw in Mario 64...occasionally I had to fight the camera to get the angle I wanted/needed, which got a bit annoying at times. Hopefully Mario Sunshine's camera is at least an improvement over Mario 64. However, I too am looking forward to Metroid Prime more than Mario Sunshine. Likewise with Zelda. Metroid Prime is scheduled to come out later this year in mid-November and Zelda in February next year...can't wait.
I like the original Mario games from Nintendo better. I don't know why, cause the graphics were aweful, but that game was addicting. The only game that I am really pumped up about getting is Grand Theft Auto Vice City. From what I heard, it's going to be 10 times better then GTA3 and GTA3 is the best game I've ever played.
I'm beginning to think the game developers for Nintendo are gay because every game they make is "SUPER".
