Thorn is an outstanding GM. I bet Portland has approached him about their opening and that's the reason he's quitting.

Thorn is one of the most inconsistent GMs I've ever seen. He's wasted first round draft picks on Josh Boone, Marcus Williams, Sean Williams, and Antoine Wright then come back with winners like Brook Lopez and Terrance Williams. Then there's the horrible Vince Carter deal from last year but the great Kidd deal from a few years back.

He's hit and miss... hit and miss.

I feel like Thorn was a phenomenal GM in the early 00s (the Jefferson deal with us, for instance) but that ship has definitely sailed. He got out of the game just in time.

Portland and NJ should have traded GMs. If their salaries didnt match, add in an expiring to even it out.

Wouldn't that make him just a normal GM? You have to be pretty bad to continuously fail year after year like MJ. And you have to be pretty good to continuously succeed like Morey. For the rest, it really is a crapshoot.

New Jersey would be crazy to hire Colangelo after the screw up of Toronto.

If they go after Pritchard, the team could stock up on some young talent to go with Favors and their max free agents. Pritchard has done a great job of acquiring talented players without pulling a Hedo sized mistake.
